TAYLOR LYNCH they/she is an interdisciplinary artist living and working in Portland, Oregon. When not exploring personal work, they make a living as a Puppet Painter at Laika Studios.
STATEMENT
My work is an intimate exploration of my relationships others, the outside world, and above all, my own psychology. I draw upon my memories, my anxieties, my imagination, and overall, my fluctuating and relational identity. Through these overlapping lenses, as well as my fascination with the physicality of my artistic process, I create non-linear, ambiguous narratives. My mixed media practice, which includes large-scale drawings, drypoint, etching, mezzotint and wax sculpture, demands intensive labor. These mediums are excavated, their surfaces carved, erased, and covered to reveal the possibilities inherent within their changeable surface.
